East End shoppers will soon be able to get their caffeine fix on the way to Publix.

Grants Pass, Oregon-based Dutch Bros is planning to open its next Louisville store at 13600 Terra Crossing Court, according to a construction permit filed with Louisville Metro Planning and Design. The coffee shop will be constructed across from Publix near Old Henry Road.

The to-go chain offers a variety of energy drinks, teas, lattes, shakes, smoothies, sodas, coffees and snacks.

The new Dutch Bros (NYSE: BROS) store will be 986 square feet and is expected to cost $1 million to construct, according to the filing.

Phil Radcliff of Louisville-based TRIO Commercial Property Group, who along with Justin Baker is representing Dutch Bros in its expansion across Kentucky and Southern Indiana, said the developer of the project is Skilken Gold, which also developed the neighboring Publix. Skilken Gold is in the final stages of selecting a general contractor and expects to break ground this summer.

Radcliff said Dutch Bros is planning to open the new store before the end of 2026.

“This site checked a lot of boxes for Dutch Bros. It’s a highly visible location just off I-265 in a rapidly growing corridor of Louisville, with strong surrounding retail and daytime drivers, including the first Publix in Kentucky, as well as proximity to one of the city's newest Class A office developments,” Radcliff said in the email. “The area is supported by a strong residential base, with a mix of established neighborhoods and continued growth through new single-family and multifamily development nearby.”

When reached by Business First, Dutch Bros said they are in the "very early stages" of planning for the store and declined to share any more information at this time.

Drive-thru coffee chains expanding quickly in Louisville

The Terra Crossing Court location is the fifth known Dutch Bros store planned in the Louisville area.

The new-to-market coffee chain opened its first Louisville location in July at 9101 Taylorsville Road. In September, Dutch Bros opened its second store at 1751 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

In December, Dutch Bros opened its flagship Louisville location at 4020 Shelbyville Road on a site that was formerly home to White Castle.

Business First reported in 2024 that the chain also plans to open a store at 3151 S 3rd St. near Churchill Downs.

The land for the Terra Crossings Court store is owned by Skilken Gold, which bought the 0.9-acre plot of land in 2022 for $6.8 million, according to a deed filed with Jefferson County Clerk’s Office.

Each Dutch Bros location is similarly constructed, according to a report in LBF’s sister paper Jacksonville Business Journal — an approximately 950-square-foot drive-thru only store and a walk-up window with 25,000 to 30,000 square feet paved for drive-thru lanes.

Founded more than 30 years ago, Dutch Bros operates more than 1,136 locations across 25 states and reported $1.64 billion of revenue last year, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

In a 2024 investor presentation, the company said it hopes to open more than 4,000 new shops over the next 10 to 15 years. Dutch Bros opened 154 new shops in 2025, more than one third of which opened in the fourth quarter, according to the filing.

Dutch Bros' entrance into the Louisville market comes as dozens of drive-thru coffee shops have descended on the region. Braxton Jones, 7 Brew Coffee regional manager, told Business First in an earlier report that the chain plans to open 30 to 40 stores in the Greater Louisville.

Meanwhile, Omaha, Nebraska-based Scooter's Coffee LLC expects to open a total of 26 locations in the Louisville area by the end of 2026.
